Health is a state of mind, body and spirit. As a Registered Dietitian, I advocate self-love and acceptance when encouraging my Clients to make healthy nutritional choices. I support the “All Foods Fit” philosophy of eating meaning there are no “good” or “bad” foods because our eating style, just like life, is about variety, moderation, and pleasure.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Nutritional Science and a Certificate in Sports Nutrition from California State University Los Angeles and a Certificate in Integrative and Functional Nutrition from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. After passing the Registered Dietitian Exam on my first attempt, I worked as a Clinical Dietitian at California Hospital Medical Center addressing the nutritional needs of the acutely ill underserved population. I served as a Dietitian for Center for Discovery's various levels of treatment conducting one-on-one counseling as well as providing nutrition education to adults and adolescents living with eating disorders and/or mental health diagnoses. Currently, I work at the University of Southern California's Student Health Center Keck Medicine of USC counseling students in need of dietary management of chronic diseases, eating disorders, gastrointestinal issues, weight management, and sports nutrition. I serve as a consulting Dietitian at The Haven House for individuals seeking treatment for substance abuse disorders, while running my own private practice in West Los Angels.
Past endeavors include conducting one-on-one counseling and facilitating experiential nutrition groups at Polaris Teen Center for adolescents living with mental health disorders, teaching various nutrition classes at Kaiser Permenante West Los Angeles, counseling women in transition at the Downtown Women’s Center, and empowering School on Wheels’ displaced children with insights to make better choices when selecting nourishment to support their growth and development.
After graduating from Boston University with a degree in Communications, I eagerly relocated to Los Angeles and spent fifteen years in the Entertainment Industry working in film production and distribution on such films as PRETTY WOMEN, DOC HOLLYWOOD and SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE. Eager for a more balanced life, I happily exited this hectic world to become Director of Logistics at Agency for Cycling Ethics, a worldwide drug testing company for professional cycling athletes. Witnessing the care and commitment these international professional athletes had to their overall well-being, my interest in wellness and nutrition was sparked leading to a drastic career change and a five year journey to became the agent of change I strive to be today.
My volunteer efforts involve working with The Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurant program supporting Restaurants’ efforts to incorporate sustainable practices to protect oceans and beaches. Also, I serve on the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Public Policy Committee championing the role of Registered Dietitians through the legislature and policy. I enjoy keeping her mind and body active through hiking, spinning, beach running, and yoga and am a HUGE tennis fan.
By being kind to myself, I invite happiness, optimism, and good health into my life by approaching my thoughts and actions with a gentle hand and spirit. Thoughts aren’t facts and feelings are acceptable. It’s what we choose to do with these overwhelming feelings that leads us on a path of self-destruction. When we learn to stop punishing ourselves with food and acknowledge our unique worthiness, our lives blossom, our spirits rise, and our futures fill with endless possibilities.
